placement guide

Where should your furniture go?

Good placement makes a room comfortable to walk through and nice to sit in. Pick a room to see what works best and the measurements we follow.

Living Room

Face the main sofa towards the focal point (TV, fireplace or view), and arrange other seats to form a conversation circle.

  • Do not block windows or doorways with tall units
  • Avoid lining every piece against the walls

buying guide

How to choose the right furniture

Keep these points in mind before you buy, or let us do the choosing for you.

Measure the room and the doors

Check room size, door widths, lift and staircase turns before you order large sofas or beds.

Get the scale right

Large rooms need substantial pieces. Small rooms feel bigger with slimmer arms and raised legs.

Pick fabrics for real life

With kids or pets, choose performance fabrics, leatherette or removable, washable covers.

Know your wood

Solid sheesham or teak lasts for decades. Engineered wood is lighter and cheaper but must be kept dry.

Test comfort

Seat depth of 21–24 in and seat height of 17–19 in suit most adults for a sofa.

Hang art at eye level

Centre artwork about 57–60 in (145–152 cm) from the floor, or 8–10 in above a sofa.
